Slash Commands

Complete reference for all Smithy slash commands.

/thread

The primary command for creating and managing threads.

/thread new

Opens the thread creation modal to create a new managed thread with a subject, content, and tags.

/thread open

Shows a list of open threads in the current channel. Each thread is shown as a clickable link so you can quickly navigate to it.

/thread stale

Shows a list of stale threads in the current channel. A thread is considered stale when it has had no activity for longer than your configured stale thread threshold. Each thread is shown as a clickable link so you can quickly review and close them.

/smithy

Administrative commands for managing Smithy in your workspace.

/smithy on

Enables Thread Mode in the current channel. All new top-level messages will be converted into threads.

/smithy off

Disables Thread Mode in the current channel. Messages will no longer be automatically converted.

/smithy authorize

Opens a link to connect your Slack account with Smithy, enabling automatic cleanup of your original messages.

/smithy support [message]

Sends a support request to the Smithy team. Include a description of your issue or question.

/smithy status

Shows the current Thread Mode status for the channel and your authorization status.

Tips

  • Slash commands are visible only to you (ephemeral) — your team won't see the command in the channel
  • If Smithy isn't responding to commands, make sure it's been invited to the channel
